Kyocera’s engineering bet is the long-life ceramic drum. On most laser copiers the drum is a consumable that gets replaced with the toner cartridge; on Kyocera’s ECOSYS machines the drum is designed to last for hundreds of thousands of prints, and what you replace is the toner alone. That is the whole reason the line exists.
Two consequences you feel: the per-page cost stays flatter as the machine ages, and there is far less hardware going in the bin every few months. For an office running steady volume on a five-year lease, that gap compounds. For an office printing 800 pages a month, it barely registers — which is exactly why we ask for page counts before quoting anything.
Kyocera is a line we carry, not a line we push. If your volume is low and your work is text, an ECOSYS unit is genuinely hard to beat on running cost.
